You have probably heard the term health share plans before. Some of the most popular plans are Medishare and Christian Healthshare Ministries. These plans aren't actual insurance backed by the TDI, Texas Department of Insurance or NAIC, National Association of Insurance Commissioners. They are more of a co-op, where you are sharing your medical bills with other people that have the same coverage. So in essence, your premium is paying for someone else’s bills. Since there are people that are deciding if your claims will get paid,  they can choose not to pay claims for any reason and there is no recourse on the customer’s part.  In addition, a lot of doctors and hospitals do not take sharing plans since they are not actual insurance. Of all of your options, we consider these the riskiest. These plans could potentially leave a customer with thousands and thousands of dollars in medical bills.
